In short, another idea from the multi-faceted brain of Suzy Rowland, Founder of #happyinschool project©
Seriously, when I talked to teenaged girls as part of my research for my book about school anxiety, I felt you needed something different, just for you. I know that being you is hard: being at school is hard, making friends and understanding where you fit in, or why you don’t, is hard. I know because I was that girl. As a (very) grown up girl now, I love to share what I have learned. Some of it will make sense, some will sound like non-sense, but being in the room with me will be fun – I promise you that!
I have created the Teen Girls Circle for girls like you – it’s a simple and powerful idea: girls who feel isolated, different, maybe because you’re autistic, ADHD (or both), highly sensitive, of mixed heritage, shy, or if you can relate to my saying ‘you zig, when the rest zag’ – then this circle is for you.
Being part of this circle means there is safe space where you can speak your mind, ask questions about your diagnosis, your school, your friendships, your fears and your hopes for the future. We’ll deep dive into what it means to be you, the sorts of problems you’re experiencing at school, exam worries, your feelings about relationships, and much more!
Where creativity & individuality meet
By the end of the six-week sessions, you will have:
-learned what’s causing your anxiety and techniques to manage it
-understood more about what autism, ADHD, anxiety are and are NOT!
-made new like-minded friends from your ‘circle’
-learned more about yourself and your strengths
-learned to find the words to stick up for yourself, positively
-strengthened your relationships with existing friends & family members
-grown in confidence and self-assurance
-feel more connected with the world around you
-developed a stronger sense of who you are (unleashed the true you)
-the beginnings of a personalised development plan.
Laughed A LOT!
A truly inspiring and empowering programme for teens on their journey to womanhood, navigating their sense of self, whilst coping with school and their changing body..
As well as some deep chats, we will be doing some crafty-type things, so come in casual, comfortable clothes bring your true self, relax and remember: your circle is a safe space. This is a great place for you if you are on a child adolescent mental health service wait list or unable to get to school/college due to anxiety, bullying, exam stress etc.

The project started off as a forum for autism & ADHD parent advocacy and quickly developed into detailed training programmes for mental health professionals, educators and complex organisations.
